Life at Kurri Kurri is all about fun and friends. It’s a buzzing environment full of group activities and events such as our Skills for Life program and even tailored personalised programs to suit your specific needs. There’s something going on every day including recycling projects, sewing, fishing, arts, and outdoor men’s group organising meetups all week. Top everything off with an outdoor recreational area, break-out spaces, and kitchen facilities and you’ll always feel right at home.

Let’s discover new walking tracks and get our hearts pumping, our legs moving and breathe in some fresh air. You be the judge. It’s time to research the best places to visit, rate our experience and write a blog of the best and worse walking tracks around.
Sunny news crew
Over the next 12 weeks, we will create the first edition of ‘Sunny News’. We will interview our friends and see what they are working towards, celebrate the goals they have achieved, interview important members of the community and much much more. Each week we will format the information and build our skills using the computer and SMART Board, then share it with our loved ones at the end of the year.
Me, myself and I
During this program, we will complete the knowing myself module from our Skills for Life program. This will provide a range of tools to help us learn about emotions and build self-confidence and self-awareness. We will also learn about cyber safety to ensure we are as protected as much as possible when we are online.
Getting out in our local community we will collect and deposit recyclable goods. Saving up the raised money for purchasing equipment for the hub or for exciting group adventures. We will learn all things recycling and how we can make small changes to benefit our environment. We will build our skills in money handling and work towards our fundraising goal. We will also research and repurpose everyday objects to prevent them from ending up in landfill.
Air fryer $10
Let’s jump into the new craze and learn everything about air-frying to cook simple meals for ourselves and our family. Fancy a stuffed potato or air fried pizza rolls? Well, let’s give it a go. We will build our skills in kitchen safety and add our recipes to our cookbook to share with our loved ones at the end of the year.
Today, we will use the Numeracy and Budgeting modules of Skills for Life. Over the next 12 weeks, we will build and learn new skills with numeracy, adding up change, identifying money values and much more.
With so many weird and wonderful sports out there, let’s research the different out-of-the-box sports and over the next 12 weeks, learn the rules and give it a go. Ever tried badminton? Me neither. So let’s give it a go. Let us know if there is a sport you have always wanted to try and we will see what we can do.
Snazzy snaps $5
Bring your own device or use the hub camera or iPad. We will explore our community and complete a 12-week photography scavenger hunt. At the end of the program, you will choose your most loved photo and have it printed on a canvas.
Community give back
Over the next 12 weeks, we connect with our community and reach out to businesses to support us in giving back to those who need it at the most important time of the year. We will gather non-perishable food & basic hygiene items and create hampers for those who need them over the Christmas period.
Creative creatures $5
We will channel our inner Picasso and get creative by researching and experimenting with new art and craft methods such as resin art, marble effects and paint by numbers, pottery and heaps more. Please bring some old clothes, things are bound to get messy.
Fishing club $5
For the next 12 weeks we will learn all there is to know about fishing, how to tie knots, beach and river fishing, different baits for different fish, how to read tides, different types of fish, water safety and so much more. We will try out various fishing spots and record all of our catches on the wall of fame.
Ladies’ day $10
Our ladies’ day is designed to be a supportive, educational and fun environment for women. We’ll expand our social networks, and meet up with our friends from the Maitland hub in various locations each week.
