Sunyfield’s Momentum Performance at Art Gallery of NSW

November 16, 2015

In this project, 12 emerging artists from Western Sydney, living with disability, respond to art in the contemporary galleries, focusing on works by Michael Landy, Daniel von Sturmer and Paul Chan in the John Kaldor Family Gallery.

Momentum is a unique engagement project between the Art Gallery of NSW and Sunnyfield disability services, funded by Arts NSW and Parramatta Council.

The project is part of the Hatch initiative, which makes a connection with professional artists and nurtures emerging artists with a disability and showcases their work in community-based projects in public spaces.

The group collaborated with professional artists and were mentored throughout the process by Hatch facilitators and staff from Sunnyfield and the Gallery.

The resulting performance installations are collaborative works that are driven by each individual and their personal responses to the art.

Momentum is part of the Gallery’s celebrations for the International Day of People with Disability.
