Ipad Input is Changing Lives

Castle Hill RSL’s generous donation to Sunnyfield, as part of the Club GRANTS program, is changing the lives of residents living at Castle Hill.

With the $3,760 grant, Sunnyfield was able to purchase four iPads, along with relevant software to assist the 4 young men with communication and an upgrade of the entertainment area making it more durable and stimulating.

As part of Sunnyfield’s Communication Program, the iPads have been specially modified with communication and skill-building programs allowing the young men to share stories, build their vocabulary and communicate visually, significantly improving their day-to-day lives. “They now have a lot of options within their environment to communicate,” Sunnyfield Speech Pathologist, Cassandra, said.

“The iPads provided have allowed them to increase their independence and on top of that these men now have access to the internet to learn and explore new skills.” The house’s entertainment upgrade and iPads, which can be used to take photos and access social media, additionally provide the young men with a source of fun and allow them to enjoy the activities the same activities as their peers.

Thank you Castle Hill RSL Club!
