“Inside Out” launched on the 3rd of September at the Chrissie Cotter Gallery in Camperdown. It is a collaborative arts exhibition brought to you by Marrickville Council and Sunnyfield, with Councillor Chris Woods,  a representative from the Marrickville Councill attending.

The exhibition showcases art works from 7 local artists and 12 people living with a disability. The exhibition reflects on the internal expression of people without a voice, breaking down the barriers that are often associated with disability. Through this process the artists have been able to create a powerful expression of their perceived self. “Inside Out” features cross art forms ranging from photography, sculpture, painting , video installation and performance art.

“Inside Out” was developed through the Sunnyfield initiative program ‘Hatch’, an arts and disability-focused, professional development mentors program. The program consists of practical and theoretical components with community and public outcomes. It aims to mentor emerging and professional artists to work alongside people with a disability across NSW.

Sunnyfield has developed a group of professional established mentors including visual artists, choreographers, directors, film makers, composers, editors and performers. These professional artists act as mentors for other artists to build on their creative skills in facilitating workshops within their community.

‘Hatch’ offers Sunnyfield clients and artists the opportunity to gain confidence in their creativity, increase life skills and in some instances further employment opportunities.

“Inside Out” will run as part of the Fringe Festival as a free event until the 7th of September at The Chrissie Cotter Gallery – Pidcock Street, Camperdown NSW 2050.
