After school, Nathan faced a difficult truth—despite his love for numbers and technology, finding meaningful employment wasn’t easy. He was often told he “wasn’t ready for work.” But with persistence, family support, and the right team behind him, that narrative quickly changed.
Enter Sunnyfield’s vocational services — a team dedicated to creating personalised pathways for young people with disability to gain confidence, build independence, and achieve their goals.
When Nathan joined the program, the team quickly recognised his potential. He was great with numbers, detail-oriented, and highly motivated. With the help of his vocational coach, Andrew Huang, a tailored plan was built to develop Nathan’s decision-making, task efficiency, and communication—while boosting his confidence along the way.
Before long, he was ready for a placement in Sunnyfield’s finance team. And it didn’t stop there.
With continued encouragement from the Sunnyfield vocational services support team, Nathan also secured a job at his local Woolworths, working the register and gaining valuable retail experience. He’s now setting new long-term goals and proving what’s possible with the right support and structure.
