Tamworth Sports Day

On the 27th of August Sunnyfield held its Annual Tamworth Sports Day at the Tamworth Sports Dome. It was a fun filled day giving over 100 people with disabilities (from 18 years of age) the opportunity to be involved in various modified sports that they are not often able to enjoy. Events included Javelin, Shot Put, Target Shooting and novelty races.

Peel High School volunteered on the day and loved acting as buddies for our participants. A range of disability organisations from local towns were also involved and embraced the spirit of getting involved within the community. “It’s about inclusion, it’s about having a lot of fun and being seen in the community, I think that’s wonderful and this day celebrates this”, Dr. Mark Clayton, Sunnyfield’s General Manager of Supported Living.

At the conclusion of the event there was an awards ceremony acknowledging all participants and attendees.

“Get out there and have a go, it’s not about your disability, it’s about your ability!” Simon Hood, Central North Rugby and Northern Inland cricket identity.
