Karen McNamara MP and Senator Mitch Fifield visit Charmhaven Community Services Hub

On Wednesday the 26th  August Mrs Karen McNamara MP, Federal Member for Dobell, New South Wales was joined by The Hon. Senator Mitch Fifield, Assistant Minister for Social Services in a visit to Sunnyfield’s Charmhaven Community Services Hub. Mrs McNamara and Senator Fifield  met with Sunnyfield clients and families who attend the day program at the Community Services Hub. Clients, families and staff enjoyed showcasing the programs they participate in and sharing a morning tea with the special guests.

Set in peaceful rural surroundings, the Community Hub provides the perfect person centred setting for Sunnyfield clients who attend centred based and community programs. Clients engage in a range of activities including, arts, cooking, gardening, music therapy, sports and community engagement programs. The programs reflect individual’s interests and hobbies and acts to support clients to exercise choice and independence in all aspects of life. Sunnyfield focuses on building skills that enable people with disability to live a fulfilling and rewarding life of their choosing.

Clients and families of Sunnyfield are looking forward to the roll out of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in the Central Coast in 2016. The morning tea with the special guests was a wonderful opportunity to speak to Senator Fifield about the NDIS and the great success the program has experienced in other regions.
