The Hon. John Ajaka MLC visits New England’s Music and Movement Program

On Wednesday the 25th February, Sunnyfield clients and staff showcased Sunnyfield’s new Music and Movement Program to The Hon. John Ajaka MLC, Minister for Ageing, Minister for Disability Services, and Minister for the Illawarra.

The Music and Movement program is an innovative arts and cultural program that assists in supporting people with disability to reach their creative potential, experience new opportunities and develop life skills. The program provides a creative outlet for people with disability living in the New England area and plays a vital role in breaking down social barriers that often surround disability. The Music and Movement Program is the latest addition to Sunnyfield Services in New England who have been providing support services for people with disability since 2002.

New England has a rich and historical love for music and people with disability are being invited to share this. Sunnyfield clients participate in a range of diverse activities throughout the program which support increased levels in confidence, self-esteem and communication skills. Through the Music and Movement Program, clients enjoy taking part in creative and musical experiences including, playing instruments, rhythm exercises, dance, drumming, acting and role play.
