Healthy Eaters Gathering

Following the receipt of a Club grant, Sunnyfield in the the New England region, started conducting a Healthy Eating group.

The grant enabled staff to purchase “easy to read” cookbooks and cooking utensils.

The weekly group was started as a way to encourage our clients to learn to plan, prepare and budget for healthy meals. It has grown considerably and is run by the clients with staff support. The day is a great social day for new and existing clients.

An impromptu game of boccia or backyard cricket often happens after lunch.

To raise more funds for supplies, a Market Day is held once a month at the Healthy Eating group. Staff and clients bring in items to sell including home grown vegetables, freshly laid eggs, home-made cakes and crafts.

The market stalls are a huge hit and raise approximately $70 each month. Everyone enjoys being able to contribute to either make, grow or donate goods.
