Connor’s Career Blossoms at Sunnyfield

October 14, 2025

When Connor joined Sunnyfield’s School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) program at Allambie Heights in 2024, his enthusiasm for gardening was clear from day one.

Through tailored vocational training, hands-on experience and one-to-one mentoring, Connor gained confidence and practical skills to turn his hobby into a career. After just three weeks of work experience at a local garden shop, his commitment paid off. He was offered ongoing weekend employment. Now, Connor is working toward his next big goal: launching his own business to grow and distribute chilies and other homegrown produce. His determination, creativity and love for horticulture continue to inspire his peers and Sunnyfield staff alike.

“Connor shows that when you follow your passion, great things can grow,” said his support team. “He’s proof that with the right guidance and opportunities, young people can truly thrive.”

Keep growing with Sunnyfield.
