Sunnyfield goes to Parliament

September 23, 2025

The Sunnyfield Northern Beaches Vocational Services team recently had a truly memorable day at NSW Parliament House, filled with learning, laughter, and inspiration.

Our participants were warmly welcomed by Independent Member for Wakehurst, Michael Regan, who went out of his way to make the group feel at home. From visiting his office to stepping into the parliamentary chambers, Michael shared his world with kindness and generosity sparking curiosity and excitement at every turn.

The most powerful moment came when our group stepped into the chambers for a roleplay debate on teenage drinking legislation. Participants took on the roles of Government and Opposition, speaking with passion and enthusiasm. Linnea shared, “I liked the building of the Parliament House and I liked participating in the roleplay.” Andrew added, “I had fun and it was interesting to go into the green room.”

Through this experience, our participants built confidence in communication, teamwork, and self-expression. More importantly, they discovered that their voices matter — and that they can take part in shaping the conversations that affect our community.
