Day Options Programs – ‘Community & Life Skills’

Our Central Coast Hub is at the McCabe Centre in Kariong, inside the Mt Penang Parklands.

  • Our clients are learning to cook in our commercial kitchen
  • Our exciting programs including computer skills, music, health and fitness activities
  • Through our partnership with East Cessnock Bowling Club, the Sunnyfield Bowlers receive one-on-one tuition in lawn bowls. With ECBC support we will also be opening a Sunny Shed at McCabe to provide more opportunities for clients.
  • We are currently exploring partnerships in Mt Penang Parklands to expand opportunities, such as The International Football School, Youth Connect, Waterfall CAFE, Central Coast Regional Development Corporation (CCRDC) and The National Aboriginal Islander Skills Development Association Dance College (NAISDA)

Our Charmhaven Centre is located only a few minutes south of Lake Macquarie and includes a popular community garden that is maintained by our clients.

  • The garden and poultry program includes learning how to look after a garden and chickens
  • We have a cooking program that uses the fresh produce from our gardens and bakes cakes for The Toukley Neighbourhood Centre’s Community Café
  • Charmhaven offers Zumba classes, volunteers for Meals on Wheels and outings such as shows, fishing, beach wheelchairs, wheelchair bowling, the library and going to the movies
  • Throughout the year we organise going to special events such as The Easter Show, Hunter Valley Gardens, The Aquarium and Christmas in July at local clubs.

We provide a number of group homes on the Central Coast that provide long term accommodation support for people who require access to 24h support. Our accommodation facilities provide a safe and supportive home environment for people with a range needs. We have supported people to take holidays, host a party, and follow their interests including our classes in our Harmony Art Studio.

To gain a long term group home placement, please contact ADHC.

Satellite program and innovative supports

Sunnyfield on the Central Coast and Hunter regions have been piloting individual community based programs. To date we are supporting 14 individuals on the Central Coast and Lake Macquarie region with skills for life and leisure activities. These individuals are at the centre of their programming, Sunnyfield is tailoring services to meet these individual goals and aspirations. The satellite program is a community based program, essentially working with individuals in their local community and matching them with community providers.

Fee for Service

Sunnyfield is able to provide additional support services on a fee for service basis. This means that we can provide a service that is outside of a government funding package, or in excess of your allocation.  This may mean someone to provide additional support or more time in a program such as our day options programs.

Please contact us for more information and to discuss the ways in which a fee for service arrangement may benefit you.
