A Place to Call Home: Peter’s Story of Independence and Calm

August 25, 2025

Since moving into his own villa, Peter has found safety, confidence, and a new sense of independence.

“I love my new home.” – Peter, shared living resident

With the support of the Sunnyfield and Edenbridge Living collaboration, Peter has found a place where he’s been able to grow, thrive, and build greater independence. Since moving into his self-contained villa in December 2024, his life has changed.

“My quality of life and sense of well-being has improved,” he shared. “I don’t run away anymore. I feel safe and calm.”

Previously living in a shared home in northwest Sydney, Peter had little privacy, high anxiety, and long commutes to his programs. Now, just minutes from work and surrounded by peaceful natural surroundings, he’s more relaxed, confident, and connected.

Having his own kitchen has opened the door to new skills. “I only knew how to make coffee before—now I’m learning to cook.”

Today, Peter welcomes friends into his villa, enjoys quiet time on his deck, and continues to build daily living skills. His story is a great reflection of how the right environment and support can lead to lasting, positive change.
