Sunnyfield celebrated at Rotary Club Brookvale 31st Anniversary

Congratulations go to Brien Mendham and Gaye Fleming who received Community Service Awards at the Red Carpet Night on Thursday 11 September 2014.  The awards were for their outstanding contribution to Sunnyfield and the community over the years.

Brien has been volunteering with Sunnyfield for over 19 years and has contributed to Sunnyfield art shows, golf days, duck races and community BBQs.  He has had a hand in upgrading some of Sunnyfield’s facilities such as pergolas, footpaths and fencing with other members of the Auxiliary.  Brien founded and manages Northern Area Recreation Association (NARA), that provides sports and social activities to people with disability.  Brien’s tireless efforts have made a significant contribution to Sunnyfield clients and the broader community through his commitment to people with disability.

Gaye has made a tremendous impact on the lives of people with disability by going above and beyond in coordinating Sunnyfield’s Community Culture and Arts Program. This has included events at Glen Street Theatre, Manly Arts Festival, Manly Youth Council and the 24/7 Film Festival.  Gaye has also worked with Sunnyfield clients in our Frenchs Forest Day Programs to produce a number of artworks that feature on Sunnyfield’s very own television series UnBard TV. Gaye’s commitment in developing partnerships with local organisations, councils and artists, creates innovative opportunities for the artistic development of people with disability.

Sunnyfield is very proud of Brien and Gaye’s achievements and thank The Rotary Club of Brookvale for publicly acknowledging their commitment to Sunnyfield’s Community Services.
